Relationships and sex education in U.K Schools; A Muslim Perspective
Dear friend:
We are pleased to extend our invitation to you for a special conference focused on shedding light on the Muslim community’s experiences and perspectives regarding the inclusion of LGBTQ+ themes in school curricula. This conference, scheduled for Sunday, April 21st, aims to provide a constructive platform for dialogue among stakeholders.
At APIE, we have conducted interviews with community leaders and professionals, and hosted focus groups with educators and parents, to gauge reactions within the Muslim community. This research will be presented at the conference.
Our conference will feature insightful discussions led by prominent figures in the field:
– “Are We Overreacting? Facts and Data on the Inclusion of the LGBTQ+ Agenda in UK RSE Curriculum” by Yusuf Patel, followed by a Q&A session.
– Insights and testimonies from Muslim professionals, featuring Ali Al Sabari and an education activist, followed by an open discussion.
– “Enriching the Discussion: Exploring the Mental Health Aspect of the Debate” – Insights from Dr. Lauren Williams, followed by a Q&A session.
The event will conclude with a session on “Moving Forward: Recommendations and Final Thoughts” with Shabbir Razvi.
Additionally, the conference will include a networking dinner, providing an opportunity for attendees to connect and engage further.
Your participation in this conference would greatly contribute to the richness of the dialogue and the diversity of perspectives represented.
Please find attached further details about the conference.
Thank you for considering our invitation. We look forward to welcoming you to the conference.
